SAFETY OF OUR PRODUCT AND SERVICES
The fact that Trinidad and Tobago has never had an outbreak of a waterborne disease is closely linked to the care employed in ensuring that our drinking water supplies are always safe. We adhere to World Health Organization (WHO) guidelines, which ensure that all pathogens (disease causing organisms) are removed and concentrations of any harmful substances are kept below safe limits.
A chlorine residue is maintained at even the most remote standpipe in our distribution system, which assures us that water is safe.
The way in which WASA handles wastewater is also geared toward keeping our workers and the public safe. Constant servicing of our collection (sewer) system ensures that there is no wastewater leak or risk of contamination. In addition, workers are required to take all necessary precautions and wear the personal protective equipment assigned to them.
