Do you have an interest or a passion for the environment, our water resources or the quality of your life? Is Poetry or spoken word a passion of yours? We at the Adopt A River Programme (AARP) and the Water and Sewerage Authority (WASA) want to hear about it.
The quality of rivers (which provides 60% of the nation’s potable water supply), is often compromised by human activities. We need to collectively speak out against pollution of our rivers and create ways to value, conserve and restore them.
RIVERSPEAK is a spoken word competition typically open to Secondary School students. This year we have extended to Primary School students as well and WE ARE GOING VIRTUAL! Submit your spoken word pieces via video format accompanied by the written script on or before Wednesday 26th May 2021, to the following link http://www.adoptarivertt.com/rs3
All submissions will be prejudged and selected finalists from each category (Primary and Secondary), will be uploaded to the Adopt A River Programme’s and WASA’s YouTube and Facebook pages on June 5th 2021, World Environment Day. Finalists in each category will also have an opportunity to win a People’s choice Award based on combined likes on both platforms which ends at midnight on June 20th 2021. Announcement of ALL winners will be made by June 25th.
There are many fantastic prizes to be won for both the individual and the school he/she attends. Visit our Facebook pages, YouTube channels or our website for information for your spoken word piece or do your own research!
